Coaches, remember the name Emeche Wells. The Junior at Roseville High School could be the next big ticket since Rod Smith who went to Notre Dame then went on to a successful career in the NFL. Wells is a playmaker on offense. Wells is a physically imposing presence at 6’3” 190 lbs. This kid would be an even more imposing prospect on defense at the safety position. Wells is a thickly built athletic prospect with great speed and stretches the field vertically. He also possesses the ability to turn a short catch into a homerun. He can take it to the house at anytime and from anywhere. He is built like Sidney Rice and has very quick feet. Wells gets off the ball with good surge and reaches top speeds rapidly with a fluid leg drive and decent gate. This kid continues to get faster the further down the field he goes. Wells has good hands and attacks the football. He uses his frame well to create separation and provides a wide strike zone for the quarterback. Wells is a physical prospect that can get up high to get balls due to leaping ability. The kids does a great job at getting open. He is such a good athlete he doesn’t really concentrate on route running. If this kid learns to run routes by his senior year he would be virtually impossible to stop in his conference. When we watched him he was unbelievable. The question our staff had was why not get him the ball more? This kid could be a high impact player if he touched the ball more throughout the game. Wells also returns for his team and again is a threat to take it to the house everytime he touches the ball. Our assessment is, this kid could be just as effective as Michael Floyd was while playing in the same conference. He possesses the tools. If this kid gets out on the college camp tour this summer he will be one of the most high sought after prospects from the state of Minnesota. At he moment he is an unknown commodity which will change shortly. He is a good prospect for the next level.
