Coaches, Gerald McCarver is a special force! We could say talent, but force would better fit his style of play. This kid like Tyus Jones has the capabilities to go out and get 50 points per game when ever they desired. McCarver is one of a few players we have seen with a complete game. His defense is just as potent and beautiful to watch as his offense. McCarver raises sand with his defense. He gets low to the ground and shuffles smoothly and effortless with above average quickness. McCarver sets his man up then pounces when a mistake is made by the ball-handler. He is very savy on defense. McCarver takes pride in making ball-handlers work luring then into bad positions and off balance where he uses quick hands to come up with the ball. McCarver seems to always get his hands on balls while defending. This kid averaged 6 steals in the tournament we watched. Get this, his offense may be even better then his defense. Again with the ball McCarver is very quick and very strong. He has a great handle which allows for him to go anywhere on the court. McCarver can blow past his man at any point and get to the rack with or without absorbing contact. He has a strong and compact build which allows for the contact. McCarver is a very good scorer. He can shoot the mid-range with consistency and stroke it from and beyond the arc. He plays with a great motor and is very instinctual. He has very good basketball intelligence and makes the right play most of the time. Looking for him to be more aggressive on the offensive side of the ball and take over which would give his team a fighting chance. At this juncture he is a definite division one prospect. He will benefit from the AAU summer with the right team. Hopefully that coach will let him go! If they do they will see what we already know...this kid can go! Coaches, enjoy the film.
